Karyn Anne Brooks

Karyn Brooks, 70, of Toronto, Calgary and Montreal, died on July 9, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Robert Gillies, children Ian Gillies (Lauren Campbell) and Cameron Gillies (Krista Gillies), sister Janet Brooks and four grandchildren – Bobby, Joe, Mackenzie and Sloane. Karyn was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Barbara Brooks.

All of Karyn’s relationships were distinguished by compassion and honesty. Karyn was a loving mother who instilled confidence in her children through the value of education and character. Karyn was also a wonderful big sister dating back to lifeguarding during her childhood in St. Catharines. She loved life, travel, music (especially Adele), CrossFit and a nice glass of Chablis.

Karyn’s business career included time at TC Energy, Enbridge and BCE where she retired as Senior VP and Controller. She was a mentor and inspiration to many. In “retirement”, Karyn participated as a Board member of various companies when not traveling and spending time with the kids and grandkids.
